K
Angle For MBA Series Bars, MBB Series Bars and
MBC Series Bars
|
- MINI-BORE®
inserts are interchangeable with other
manufacturers' bars.
- Our bars
are designed to cut above center after
being set to a negative K
Angle. As the diameter of the bar
increases the K Angle
decreases, thus allowing for heavier
cuts.
- The
negative angle does not impose excessive
tool pressure since the applications
these bars are used for will be making
light cuts.
- To assist
with the proper orientation of the
K Angle and to speed up setup
time in the machine, flats are provided
on all bars.

0° Radial Rake |
|
| K
Angle benefits: |
- Negative
rake ( "K" Angle) allows for
distribution of cutting forces (Fc) to be
distributed over more cross sectional
area (e.g., 42% for 3/16 diameter
bars).
- A
stronger pocket, up to 25% more material
under the pocket. Increased mass,
decreases the probability of bar
breakage, thereby reducing the number of
bar requirements in production.
- Configuration
allows for more screw thread engagement,
over a full screw diameter of engagement
(e.g., 33% for 3/16 diameter bars),
which lessens the chance of stripping any
threads or the screw coming loose.
- Chips are
broken up more easily providing for
better and cleaner chip flow.
- Better
chip flow will help relieve cutting
force.
- A better
finish can be achieved.
